ICare's logo is based on the letter ‘C’ meaning ‘Care’, and the effect of the three spheres gradually blending together represents ICare's core philosophy of healing and communication.
Currently, about 39 million people are living with HIV globally, with about 1.3 million new infections each year.
However, at present, society is not particularly concerned about AIDS patients, and more attention is mainly focused on publicity work on AIDS prevention. Few people take into account the feelings of AIDS patients themselves, including, but not limited to, social prejudice, and the fear they already feel inside.

Through our research, we found that there are two areas where the current HIV self-testing process could be optimised: people's fear of HIV prior to testing and the inability to focus on the HIV self-testing process due to the complexity of the testing process.
That is, people may be so fearful in the pre-test period that they are unable to concentrate on the process of HIV testing.
User Research
Through brainstorming, we found two feasible solutions.
Firstly, to reduce the learning difficulty for users to perform an HIV self-test by means of visual animation.
Secondly, to reduce users' anxiety before knowing whether they have the disease by means of AI voice chat and Interactive mini-games and so on.

Prototype
During the ideation phase, a variety of approaches were used to produce as many ideas as possible. With the help of user testing, the best interaction logic and design prototypes were identified. In addition to checking product feasibility, we focused on developing user-centred services and viable business models.
Prior to user testing, we purchased most of the HIV self-test kits available on the market for research and simulation of the self-testing process, and role-played to discover the problems that users might have when using these kits.
We conducted user testing for this project in the Interaction and User Experience Lab at Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, recruiting 13 offline testers and 30 online testers.
We tested the user experience and general usability of our final prototype and service with different testers. Early user testing allowed us to find out whether people with the disease need a tool to reduce stress when taking an HIV test, and what motivates patients' behaviour if they have the disease.

Design Criteria
Privacy protection is an important module of ICare, all users‘ personal information is replaced by a five-digit code, and users’ social activities inside the circle can be done anonymously.
The social module aims to provide users with a warm, non-discriminatory communication space. Through an intelligent matching system, users can meet friends with similar experiences and like-minded people for emotional support.
The healing module is the core of the app, we accompany the user through the difficult 15 minutes of waiting for the result through AI chat, interactive mini games and so on.
We know that simple and intuitive interface design is crucial to improve user experience. Therefore, the APP adopts a user-friendly design and visualises all self-test operations.
Optimizing Process
Prior to a traditional HIV test, patients are often required to read lengthy instructions, yet users are often unable to concentrate on reading lengthy textual information when they are under stress.
Therefore, we have animated the traditional text to greatly simplify the reading process.

Core Functions

(Social Module)
(Personal Module)
By scanning the QR code on the test reagent, users can first see an animated tutorial on HIV self-testing. We use animation to let users learn the steps of HIV self-testing more intuitively.
Users can ease their inner anxiety and fear by way of AI accompanied chat, meditative music and interactive mini-games during the 15 minutes they wait for the self-test results.
According to research, we found that people with illnesses feel that chatting with others who are also suffering from the disease can more effectively alleviate their inner anxiety.
In order to better protect the privacy of HIV patients, all user names and personal information within the APP are replaced with five-digit code numbers.
